Helios was composed as part of a series of 1-2 minute solo commissions during the early months of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Each of these miniatures depict one of the lesser Greek gods. Helios is the god of the sun, which seemed a no-brainer for the bright, clear voice of the trumpet. The piece is subdivided into three sections: “Blinding,” “Scorching,” and “Shining.”
