I composed the bulk of Jackrabbit in the summer after I graduated from the University of Arizona. During this time in my life I was having a lot of difficulty finding the inspiration and motivation to compose, so this piece was an attempt to get out of my months-long funk by writing something short, spunky, and fun that I could play without accompaniment.

This is somewhat of a performance etude focusing on large leaps and syncopation. Because of the bouncy nature of the material and contrasting mechanical rhythmic elements, I think the title is quite apt.
