I wrote Marzipan in 2018, intending it to remain unreleased - a little exercise in writing for fun, maybe to play with a couple friends from school. I actually hate the food marzipan. It’s overly sweet, cloying and grainy. As this is something of a sarcastic joke of a piece, I found it amusing to name it after something I dislike. At some point, I uploaded it to my YouTube channel on a whim and to my surprise I regularly receive requests to purchase it. So, in 2025 I smoothed (some of) the rough edges and excised the useless piano part and now it is available in a new performance edition. I never suspected anyone would take this tiny piece, really a fragment, seriously enough to want to perform it, but to my delight I was wrong! I humbly offer for your delectation, Marzipan - the new recipe!
