Commissioned by Davíd Ramirez and Monserrat Garcia Campos

I was given the opportunity to write this piece a mere three weeks before its premiere. Since I didn't have very much time to write it, I decided to create three very short movements, each depicting a time of day. The first movement, Sundown, begins slowly and mysteriously, but quickly erupts into a colorful dance between the two instruments. The second, Midnight, depicts the stillness and melancholy that pervades the dead of night, built on simplistic rhythms and harmonies. The final movement, Daybreak, begins where movement 1 ends, depicting two birds fluttering around in the early morning light. "Three Pieces fro Flute and Oboe" was commissioned and premiered by David Ramirez (flute) and Monserrat Garcia-Campos (oboe) on November 11th, 2018, at the Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens in Tucson, Arizona.
